Wow! How do we begin to sum up the Youth Town Hall, FlippGen’s fully youth-led event bringing young voices directly into the national conversation on digital life.
The room at LUSH Studio was filled with young people, some as young as nine, talking about their experiences of growing up in the digital world. But what made this different was simple: young people weren’t just in the room, they built it. They designed the sessions, facilitated the discussions, and led the conversation from start to finish.
They spoke honestly about what it’s really like to grow up online, the pressures, the positives, the things adults often miss and they didn’t just share problems, they pushed for solutions. Every idea, insight and challenge raised is now being taken forward into a formal submission to Government.
We couldn’t be prouder of the FlippGen Digital Rebels and every young person who took part. You didn’t just join a conversation, you reshaped it.
This feels like the start of something bigger. Not just listening to young people, but trusting them. Not just inviting them in, but handing them the mic.
And as one young person put it: “If decisions are being made about our digital lives, we should be part of making them.”
