Parental Controls on Your Home Wi-Fi Router
Your Wi-Fi router can filter content for every device in your home at once — no need to set things up individually on each phone or tablet.
How to Access Your Router Settings
Type 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 into your browser's address bar (this works for most routers).
Log in — the default username/password is often on a sticker on the router itself.
Look for a section called Parental Controls, Access Control, or Family.
What You Can Do
Block specific websites across all devices.
Set time schedules — e.g. no internet after 9pm on devices registered to your children.
Create separate networks for children's devices.
Modern Routers and ISP Tools
Download the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app on your phone.
Follow the in-app instructions to link it to your child's Switch.
Set age rating restrictions, screen time limits, and bedtime alarms.
Restrict communication with other players and the posting of screenshots online.
Tip: Router-level controls are great as a safety net, but tech-savvy teenagers can use mobile data to bypass them. They work best as one layer of a wider approach.
