Wow! We’re still trying to process what happened at ’The Table’, our youth-led hackathon at Bett co-hosted by FlippGen and Beyond, in partnership with Pinterest and supported by Molly Rose Foundation and Kokoro.
The room was full to the brim with major stakeholders to discuss digital safety. The key difference was that this time the event was designed and led by young people - they led the conversations, hosted the panels, guided the break out sessions. They shared their lived experienced about what it is like to grow up in a digital world, and they articulated and advocated passionately for the change they want to see.
We could not be more proud of the FlippGen Digital Rebels! You were all utterly wonderful and truly inspiring. I really hope that this is the start of some meaningful change. One where organisations not only listen to young voices, but work with them to action their suggestions. As the Rebels said ‘young people are more likely to listen to other young people about online safety’ and ‘we all agree on the 80%, lets work together better to get the 20% right for all, including young people.
