About FlippGen

FlippGen is a youth-led digital wellbeing movement working to help children and young people build healthier, safer and more positive relationships with technology.

Youth voice sits at the heart of everything we do. Rather than simply creating programmes for young people, we believe young people should help shape the conversations, campaigns, education and solutions that affect their digital lives.

Through education, we provide young people with peer-led resources; through connection, we work to ensure young people are able to stay connected on and offline; through regulation we campaign for tech companies to be held accountable for youth wellbeing.

Central to this work is our youth advisory board of Digital Rebels; young people who contribute their ideas, experiences, creativity and perspectives to help shape FlippGen’s work.

The Role

We are looking for a highly organised, energetic and people-focused Project Manager.

Our Project Manager will initially lead the execution of a newly funded 6-month R&D project. This role serves as the central operational driver, bridging youth participatory governance with key civil society partners, academic experts, and government bodies (including DCMS), as well as building our foundations for engaging with young people through our social media channels.

You will work with our Directors to help manage all other current, and future, FlippGen projects, support funding applications and partnerships, coordinate youth insight and research, and work with the wider team to develop youth-led content for our social media channels.

This is a very hands-on role for someone who loves making things happen: bringing young people together, keeping projects moving, communicating clearly and turning ideas into action.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Support the planning and delivery of FlippGen projects from initial idea through to completion

  • Manage project plans, timelines, actions and milestones

  • Coordinate and organise the involvement of Digital Rebels, partners, freelancers and other stakeholders

  • Keep projects moving and ensure actions and deadlines are followed and met

  • Organise project meetings, take responsibility for actions and maintain clear records of progress

  • Capture and write up the outcomes, learning and impact of projects for reporting purposes

Operational set up

  • Establish and formalise operational processes, infrastructure, and standards for our social media channels and newsletters

  • Manage procurement and setup for key operational tools, including newsletter delivery systems and member management CRMs

  • Assist directors and Project Manager in developing funding applications for future work

Event Management

  • Work with Digital Rebels to design workshops and events that bring together young people, civil society and key politicians and government officials

  • Plan and co-ordinate venues, attendees, schedules, speakers, travel, logistics and communications for events

  • Ensure young people are properly briefed and supported when attending events or representing FlippGen externally.

About You

We are looking for someone who is highly organised but also comfortable working in a creative, fast-moving environment. You will enjoy working with young people and be able to build relationships quickly while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. You will be confident in taking initiative and working independently where needed.

You don't necessarily need to come from a traditional youth-work background. Experience could come from youth engagement, charities, education, community organisations, events, campaigns, project management, creative industries or social impact organisations.

We particularly encourage applications from people under 30 to apply for this role.

Most importantly, you will understand that involving young people properly means listening to them, respecting their views and giving them meaningful opportunities to influence decisions.

Skills & Experience

We would particularly like to hear from people who have experience in some of the following areas:

  • Experience working with young people on participation or community building

  • Project management or coordinating multiple projects

  • Organising meetings, workshops or events

  • Facilitating group discussions and gathering insight

  • Building relationships with different stakeholders

  • Supporting funding applications or grant-funded projects

  • Working in small grassroots charities, CICs, education, youth organisations or social-impact projects

  • Managing competing priorities and deadlines

  • Turning ideas and conversations into clear actions

Personal Qualities

You are likely to be:

  • Exceptionally organised and a self starter

  • Friendly, approachable and confident communicating with young people

  • Proactive and comfortable taking ownership

  • Curious about youth culture, technology and the changing digital world

  • Comfortable facilitating conversations and encouraging quieter voices to contribute

  • Creative and willing to try new approaches

  • Able to work independently while collaborating closely with a small team

  • Comfortable working across several projects at once

  • Passionate about giving young people meaningful influence over decisions that affect them

  • Committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in their work

Safeguarding

FlippGen works closely with children and young people, so safeguarding is central to this role.

The successful candidate will be expected to follow FlippGen's safeguarding policies and procedures and undertake any appropriate safeguarding training and background checks required for the position.
