Managing Your Child's Roblox Account

Roblox is hugely popular but contains user-generated content that varies wildly in quality and appropriateness. These steps will help you keep it safer.

Account and Age Settings

  1. Make sure your child's account has the correct date of birth — under-13s automatically get stricter settings.

  2. Go to roblox.com, log into your child's account, and click the gear icon > Settings.

  3. Under Privacy, check who can message, chat, and join them in games.

Setting Up Parental Controls

  1. In Settings, click the Parental Controls tab.

  2. Set a monthly spend limit for Robux (the in-game currency) — even £0 if you prefer.

  3. Enable Account Restrictions — this limits your child to a curated list of age-appropriate games only.

  4. Add a PIN to prevent your child from changing these settings.

Chat Settings

  • Under-13s can only chat with friends — they can't type freely.

  • You can disable in-game chat entirely in Privacy settings.

Tip: Roblox has a virtual economy — children can be pressured by others to spend Robux. Setting a clear budget and talking about it in advance makes a big difference.
