Snapchat Family Centre

Snapchat's Family Centre lets you see who your child is talking to without reading the actual messages — a balance between safety and privacy that many teens accept more willingly.

Setting Up Family Centre

  1. Both you and your child need a Snapchat account.

  2. Open Snapchat on your phone and tap your profile icon.

  3. Go to Settings > Family Centre.

  4. Tap Invite Your Teen and send them a link.

  5. Your child needs to accept the invite from their own Snapchat app.

What You Can See

  • Who your child has been chatting with in the last 7 days (but not the content of messages).

  • Who their friends are.

  • Their privacy settings.

What You Can Control

  • You can report accounts that concern you directly from the Family Centre.

  • Turn off the ability for strangers to contact your child.

Tip: The fact you can see who they talk to — but not what they say — is actually a good conversation starter. Many families find it easier to agree on because it respects some privacy.
